An antique British biscuit barrel of traditional barrel form with a blank shield plaque, mounts, recessed lid and bail handle in silverplate. The interior is porcelain lined. Standard in most every English home since the early 19th century, biscuit barrels were used to store and serve cookies and shortbread at tea time.
Marked: EPNS (Electro plated on nickel silver) on rim and lid.
