This pair of very early antique Chinese chairs displays the classic mitered and paneled seat and ogee aprons that extend in flanges down the legs. They retain much of an old, black lacquer finish and, on the under side, traces of the original red lacquer on hemp. This pair is a wonderful example of the form and craftsmanship of the era.
