This antique German Westerwald crock is ovoid in form with applied, upturned handles at the shoulder and is decorated with cobalt blue flower and scrolls and banding. Westerwald stoneware is a salt glazed grey pottery found in the Westerwald region of Germany since the beginning of the 15th century. Some stoneware is further decorated with manganese or cobalt designs.
