An antique, 19th century French kitchen work table island designed for carving meat. The thick top is crafted with strong, end grain, wood blocks with heavy iron braces reinforcing each corner. The depressions and patina on the top show generations of use. The sturdy base has a small frieze drawer with pull handle and is raised on thick, square, tapering legs. Large, round metal mounts are affixed to the front and side.
