This vintage African tunic style hunter's jacket is heavily decorated with mirrors and rectangular leather pouches, with cowrie shells around the neck opening. This type of hunter's shirt was worn by Dogon or Bamana People (Mali, West Africa) men and used as protective armor from wild animals as well as spirits. They are typically embellished with small objects such as amulets, mirrors, jewelry, leather pouches, cowrie shells and horns attached with strings.
