A vintage, mid century pottery owl figure by Native American artist Sarah Garcia. It is decorated with black vegetal paint and orange slips on a creamy white ground.
Garcia was a prolific and influential potter and known for reviving the Anasazi and Tularosa designs on contemporary Acoma pottery, along with artists Lucy Lewis and Marie Z. Chino. She was born to a Laguna Pueblo mother (Maria Trujillo) but has spent her adult life as an Acoma Pueblo potter.
