An antique, early 20th century chair, after a late 18th century design by Goddard-Townsend (Newport, RI). This bench made chair was carved with a serpentine crest rail with notched corners and central incised diamond cross-hatching above a pierced splat and drop-in rush seat on frontal stop-fluted legs with recessed stretcher.
