An antique, 18th century New England blanket chest with lift top over a one drawer base. The paint is a later addition and features maritime themes and with floral reserves. Perhaps a wedding or dowry piece, two sets of initials are present along with the date 1813 and a couple's head and shoulders profiles in silhouette. The edge is marked: Capt. S. Bain.
