A ghau box (Gau/Gawu) is a small, portable prayer box used in Tibetan Buddhism as a protective amulet and a personal shrine to hold sacred items. Worn as a jewelry pendant or jewelry, it is believed to ward off negative energy. The box contains protective objects like mantras, images of deities, prayers, or herbs, in order to protect the wearer. Crafted in coin silver with turquoise and coral cabochons. Crafted of repousse coin silver and mounted with turquoise and coral cabochons. This antique ghat box is decorated with a seated, multi-arm Buddhist deity in a niche.
