DETAILS
Publisher: Alex Rosenberg of Transworld Art (1968-present). The publisher paid Dali to sign the individual prints in a different color pencil for each of the three books by Dante.
Note: Dali created 102 original watercolors as illustrations inspired by Dante's epic poem the Divine Comedy poem, to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the birth of Dante (Florentine, 1265-1321). One hundred of the images were made into prints with the carving of over 3200 printing plates from 1959 to 1963 by Raymond Jacquet and his assistant. Dali's illustrations and the poem describe a trip through the afterlife, Virgil guiding Dante through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise from the three books that comprise the Divine Comedy.
