This fierce statue, but somewhat amusing creature, known as a vyala in southern India, is depicted in the traditional Hindu animal with a leonine body and lion head. It was nicely rendered with a chain around his neck and a dramatic, swept up tail. Of mottled brown and white stone, it is a very interesting antique accessory for the garden or interior design element.
