An antique German Westerwald tankard with cobalt blue brushed decoration of a scrolled floral or tulip motif on a grey ground with incised decoration. The pewter domed lid with ball finial thumb pull.
Westerwald pottery is a salt glazed, grey stoneware made in the Höhr-Grenzhausen and Ransbach-Baumbach area of Westerwaldkreis in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. The decoration is traditionally cobalt blue.
