DETAILS
An antique, richly carved wooden foot warmer or foot stove. Originally it would have housed a small earthenware pot with coals or embers of wood, which allowed heat through the pierced top. These personal foot warming boxes were used in carriages, homes, or churches to ward off the cold. They were also concealed under long skirts, or cloaks.
