This piece is a faithful reproduction of the 18th century original, a contemporary casting we commission for our clientele who often find such period pieces impossible to find. Done by a local company, a number of this model are available, and also as a fountain head. It was cast from an original antique door knocker. With a lion head mask bearing its teeth and holding a ring knocker with round striker. The originals were from a pair of 19th century pair of French Carriage sized doors from a chateau.
