An antique painting of a village town street scene lined with quaint thatched roof houses, with a young girl and an elderly man with a cane engaged in conversation standing on a dirt country road.
Hans Andersen Brendekilde (Danish, 1857-1942). Brendekilde began his career as a social realist but his subjects evolved into more religious and idyllic village scenes. He studied sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts but changed to painting in 1881.
