This early, rare, and very large tall chest is a form common to pieces custom made for merchants in 17th century Portuguese Indian colonies. This one features a very high, tiered cornice over an arrangement of many small drawers with fanciful shapes, featuring an applied lattice on the central doors and a waterfall, bomb̩ shape to the lower section. It is a fabulous piece for storage of smalls.
