This antique, Scandinavian folk art cupboard features the original painted, traditional, floral and berry kurbits decoration. Kurbitsmalning or simply kurbits, as with its Norwegian counterpart rosem̴ling, was most popular from the latter half of the 18th century and until the 1860s. The natural wood on the frame was originally painted. This step-back cabinet was originally a storage piece used to hold kitchenware.
