An antique architectural figural bracket from India. This fierce, but somewhat amusing creature, known as a vyala in northern India, is depicted in the traditional manner with a leonine body and dog head. The figure is seated and smiles with teeth bared while protectively holding a small figure. It retains traces of white paint.
