Pair of Northern Indian Painted Limestone Lion Architectural Brackets

DETAILS
These somewhat whimsical, antique, mythical beasts were hand carved in northern India as architectural brackets. They are depicted in crouching position with one forepaw raised. Their faces portray rather fierce, if amusing, expressions with their red tongues sticking out and eyes bulging. The pair retains much of the original, bright yellow paint. Together, they make a striking decorating statement.
