An antique, hand carved teak architectural carving with a fierce Vyala or Sardula figure. A vyala or sardula is a mythological leonine creature with the head of a tiger, elephant, bird or other animal. It is a popular decorative motif found on buildings and temples in India. This architectural fragment is now mounted on a base for display as a sculptural object.
