DETAILS
This antique American cast iron mechanical coin bank is regarded as the first patented mechanical bank. Originally designed so that when the doorbell is pulled the roof of the cupola lifts up and reveals a little monkey figure seated at a desk. A coin is then placed in the desk, and its weight causes figure, desk, money and all to disappear in the bank.
