Kasimir travelled to America to do a series of etchings of famous sights and architectural landmarks including this image of the Brooklyn Bridge and docks. Signed (lower center): Luigi Kasimir.
Kasimir was inherited his artistic talent from his grandfather and father. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to coloured etchings. Kasimir is most known for his etchings, but he also produced some oil paintings and pastels. He often illustrated monuments, street scenes, and tourist landmarks.
His work is part of many collections, galleries and museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York). Interestingly, he even designed a bookplate for Sigmund Freud, who hung his work in his consulting room.
