Rare Pair of English George III Sheffield Plate Armorial Carriage Plaques

DETAILS
These rare, antique Georgian carriage plaque medallions were hand crafted in repousse, then filled with lead, after which they were finished by hand tooling the details. Each displays a scrolling acanthus leaf border in a relaxed oval, with a large, lion rampant on the right and smaller one in a field to the left. Beautiful and truly unusual, these afford myriad decorative possibilities for modern use.
