DETAILS
A small antique side plate or saucer hand painted in the Imari palette with a castle and trees. This pattern matches the tea service made for D. Pedro de Sousa Holstein, 1st Duke of Faial and Palmela (Portuguese, 1781–1850). Holstein was considered one of the most important Portuguese diplomats and statesmen in the early to mid 19th century. He was Prime Minister of Portugal (1834-35).
