This form of battle axe weapon was found in the Ottoman Empire, Persia, India, Armenia, Turkey and surrounding countries. It is known as a tabar or tabarzin (saddle hatchet). This antique, 19th century example has a single crescent-shape blade with traces of silver inlay with a long pole handle.
